Starting a web site, no matter the content or reason, can be difficult. I never realized just how much! I decided to start my journey after listening to friends and other parents who were facing some difficult decisions. I wanted to help, and offering my experience seemed like the best way; for me, the only way really. But how would I reach all those struggling parents that I didn’t know? That was the million-dollar question of the day. I created my web site and then went on to create a Facebook page, a Twitter page, an Instagram page, and even a Pinterest page. But again, how do I get all of this information out in the world?
Denver7 to the Rescue!
With all of the chaos happening in the world, I was quite surprised a news station would consider what I had to say report-worthy. But they did. And although my inner introvert was putting up a good fight, I agreed to the interview. I reminded myself of all the times I wanted to sit down and cry and give up on our homeschool endeavor, all the times I didn’t think I could make it work, all the times I felt helpless and lost. So, with a great amount of encouragement (and gentle nudge….) from my husband, I did it. Much to her chagrin, I drug Sophia along and she was able to add her perspective to the story as well. I fully admit that I cringe at the thought of listening to myself speak, but if it spreads the word that help is available, I would do it again.
